COVID-19 Update: Tourism Webinar - Episode 1 Employment and Finance - 10:30am on Thursday 26th March

Posted 25 Mar, 2020

Following on from our urgent Coronavirus Tourism Summit, we are hosting a Tourism Coronavirus Webinar in partnership with Mills Selig, a leading corporate and commercial law firm, on Thursday 26th March at 10:30am focusing on employment law -furloughed workers and zero hours workers -, funding options and financial support available.

Tourism has been at the front line of coronavirus’ business and economic impact. We have been calling for the government (locally and nationally) to implement immediate measures to support you, who have been dealing with the economic impact since the start of the outbreak. We have lobbied for key government measures providing support to businesses in light of COVID-19 and the webinar will focus on:

  • Financial support provided by the government to businesses
  • Funding available from the banking and finance industry
  • The Job Retention Scheme and the issue of furloughed workers
For example: who it applies to, what is the process, how long will it be in place, does it apply to zero hours workers, how do we calculate earnings etc.

This will be followed by a Q&A session.

Speakers include:

- Kiera Lee, Director, Mills Selig, with 20 years’ experience in Employment Law

- Naomi Gaston, Senior Associate, Mills Selig, a specialist in Banking and Finance Law

- Dr. Joanne Stuart, Chief Executive, Northern Ireland Tourism Alliance.

This is open to the tourism industry but advance registration is essential.
